The Language School

History

Since it was founded in 1982, HSF-Heidelberger Sprachinstitut / Heidelberg School of German has evolved from a family business into an internationally operating institution.

Initially specialized in teaching German as a foreign language very soon it has built up an additional department of courses in foreign languages which today constitutes a significant part of the School’s activities.

Institute

Our courses are geared towards those who want to acquire a language or expand their language proficiency because of education and university studies, for professional purposes or out of a general interest in German or a foreign language, Our courses are booked by private individuals as well as companies, institutions and organisations.

Traditionally, HSF’s primary goal has been to impart to each of its participants exactly those skills which correspond to their individual needs. As we are a medium-sized school we are in the position to concentrate our attention on the different wishes and interests of our students.

In the field of joint scholarship programmes HSF is cooperating with the universities of
Cambridge (UK), Cassino (Italy) and MUN St. John’s, NewFoundland (Canada) as well as with EOP – European Orientation Programme of the Republic of Ireland. The School is accredited by HÖGSKOLEVERKET (National Agency for Higher Education), Stockholm (Sweden) for CSN scholarships of Swedish participants.

The School has its own sponsorship programme (MINERVA programme) for students of universities and colleges (UK).

In the field of professional and specialized languages the School has been working since numerous years for renowned German and international companies, among them leaders of their branch.

HSF is member of FaDaF-Fachverband Deutsch als Fremdsprache e.V. (Professional
Association of German As a Foreign Language) as well as of PROFIL-Professional Institutes of Languages.

The School is situated in the centre of the Heidelberg, two minutes from Bismackplatz, the central square of the town.
